Space Patrol is proof that, pioneer though he was, Gerry Anderson was not the only one with a talent for puppet shows. In Space Patrol, Roberta Leigh conjured up a wonderfully detailed future where the peoples of Earth, Mars and Venus join together to safeguard the solar system.

Though shot in black and white and aimed at children the stories, though relatively simple, included many adult themes and some well thought out ideas. Special effects varied from the crude, using a sparkler to simulate a rocket pack, to the amazingly animated Galasphere. The puppetry was simply superb, with puppets not only managing a convincing walk but at times even running!

I don't really have the space to do this enjoyable and fun show justice, thankfully there is already a site that does:
